About the Holy sumadhwa vijaya:
The sumadhwa vijaya is a biographical account of shrI madhwAchArya by shrI nArAyaNa paMDitAchArya, the son of shrI trivikrama paMDitAchArya, who was contemporary of shrI madhwAchArya.
Writing the biography of AchArya madhwa– he of a multifaceted divine personality would have been a difficult assignment for anyone. The requirements for presenting an extraordinary life in its different aspects would not be easy.
In this poetically embellished mahAkAvya, shrI nArAyaNa paMDitAchArya has used a thousand synonyms in describing shrI madhwAchArya, essentially referring to his vast knowledge and great intellect. There is no doubt that sumadhwa vijaya is a first-person account of the life of AchArya madhwa as seen at close quarters by this gifted author. The descriptive verses on AchArya madhwa are lyrical and heartwarming. The great love of the poet for his subject shines through brilliantly in these. It is believed that AchArya madhwa is present himself in the form of sumadhwa vijaya and no one, even the other greats of the order ever tried to write another similar composition on the subject. The composition has secured great respect and acceptance comparable to the original compositions of AchArya madhwa himself from all succeeding savants of tatwavAda.
Because of the great regard and sanctity that has been attached to this composition, which is usually learned by heart by young students of tatwavAda, the original has been maintained accurately over the centuries. The same is being presented here.
The Kannada tAtparya by shrI B Srinivasa Bhat, Udupi published in 1932 by shrI Pavanje Gurrao, shrI manmadhwa siddhAMta granthAlya, is in unique style and in down to earth language, the copies of which are rarely available to jijnAsus. It is for sure, that the presentation would benefit the jijnasus to avail the opportunity of obtaining hari bhakti and guru bhakti simultaneously.
The English Translation by learned shrI N A P S Rao is a masterly work accomplished thorough research and recurring study. This is being presented to benefit the young students of tatwavAda, to appreciate and understand the greatness of our kula guru AchArya madhwa.
